After Spending $11,000, Woman Sues Psychic For Not Lifting Curse On Her Love Life

A woman sued a psychic who promised to lift a curse on her love life.
In her lawsuit, Klarissa Castro of North Hollywood says that she was told that she was cursed during her consultation with the Westside Psychic Readings By Yana according to City News Service. Castro says that she was "emotionally vulnerable" at this time and that psychic Jennifer Williams convinced her that "without lifting this curse, (she) would be unable to have true, meaningful, loving relationships in her life." Williams said she knew how to lift this curse—for a price, of course. (Williams didn't respond to CNS for comment.)
It started out with an initial consultation that cost $500, and it only got pricier from there. Their sessions started in August 2010, and over the course of two years, she spent $4,025 on psychic services. Williams told Castro to buy special candles blessed by her, write love letters and make a list of nine things that she wanted from her boyfriend. The psychic allegedly promised her that her list would come true once the curse was lifted.
Castro said she bought $1,400 in gift cards for Williams to buy items that were supposed to represent the love between Castro and her boyfriend. Finally, she paid the psychic $5,020 to commission a painting that would really help "lift the curse."
It seems like this last request clued Castro in to what was going on: the painting never materialized. It sounds like her relationship never got better either: "No change occurred in plaintiff's life as promised by Williams throughout the approximate two years that (she) was seeing Williams."
Altogether, Castro spent $11,000 trying to get that curse lifted. She sued Williams for fraud and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
