Lakers Send Mr. Khloe Kardashian to Dallas

When at first you don't succeed, try and try again. After the Chris Paul trade was infamously cancelled by NBA commissioner (and de facto New Orleans Hornets owner) David Stern involving Lamar Odom, the Lakers did manage to trade Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks. This time it looks like it will stick.
In return the Lakers will receive the Mavericks' first-round pick in the 2012 NBA draft and an $8.9 million trade exception according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times. The trade exception will allow the Lakers to for a player with a salary of up to $8.9 million later on down the road if the Lakers are over the salary cap.
Reportedly the Lakers could receive another draft pick, but the names Chris Paul or Dwight Howard do not figure into this trade. Many have viewed this trade as a stepping stone for the Lakers to make a run at Orlando Magic center Howard and forward Hedo Turkoglu
This trade comes on the heels of word that the Lakers have pulled out of any trade involving Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets.
The 32-year old forward came to the Lakers as part of the Shaquille O'Neal trade in 2004 that sent the big man to the Miami Heat. He was drafted by the Clippers with the fourth-overall pick in the 1999 draft out of the University of Rhode Island and didn't seem to have a problem passing the dutchie in his first tenure in Los Angeles.
