Should The Muppets Host The 2012 Oscars?

FADE IN:Things were rapidly deteriorating for the 84th Annual Academy Awards, scheduled to take place in February of 2012. Producer Brett Ratner had removed himself from the show after letting fly with a gay slur and offering up unsolicited information about the size and content of his balls. On the heels of Ratner's departure, slated host Eddie Murphy promptly dropped out of his commitment to the ceremony as well.
It was starting to look like nothing could save the 2012 Oscars...until...
...someone suggested that the Muppets to take over where Murphy left off! [Cue music and dance number.]
The push for the Muppets to host the upcoming Academy Awards actually started in February of this year, but with all the noise that's now surrounding the event, it's quickly gaining steam. An aptly-titled Facebook page called "The Muppets Should Host the 2012 Oscars" has 9,075 likes, and @MuppetOscars has 4,545 followers and counting.
It's a little unclear whether this began as a joke or not, but FB commenters are certainly taking it seriously. Here's a snippet of public sentiment:
