Hot hair may now be hazardous to your health. Brazilian Blowout, the latest trend in celebrity hair straightening, is looking less than glamourous to the Food and Drug Administration as they investigate complaints of headaches, skin irritation, eye irritation and respiratory problems that may be linked to the carcinogen formaldehyde.
According to the OC Register, Brazilian Blowout provides contradictory information on their website claiming that the product contains no formaldehyde and also that levels tested below government safety limits.
OSHA standards require a chemical to be listed as an ingredient if more than .1 percent is found -- 37 samples of Brazilian Blowout averaged a rate of 8.68 percent. Formaldehyde!! Preserving dead frogs AND making your hair silky smooth since 1860.
