Dodgers Go from Bad to Worse
As the Dodgers have been sealed in their coffin, the dirt is starting to pour into their grave.
Reliever Jeff Weaver has been put on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left knee, and reliever Ramon Troncoso has been recalled from AAA Albuquerque. Since the All Star Break, Weaver has an 11.00 ERA in nine innings pitched which he partly attributed to his knee.
“He hadn’t been pitching very well, I don’t think it’s any secret,” manager Joe Torre said. “I guess [pitching coach Rick] Honeycutt was sitting with him after he came out of the game last night.”
“I’ve always taken pride in my durability,” Weaver said. “Now I guess it’s coming to grips that getting to a certain point where you can’t work through things like you could in the past.
“It’s about time to put pride aside and take care of it and come back 100%. I think they’re happy I came forward now instead of continuing to go out there and have bad things happen.”
Torre on the other hand gave a sterling vote of confidence for Troncoso and his performance with Albuquerque.
“He’s okay. Just okay, inconsistent. We’ll see. He gives us a guy who can throw a couple of innings. Maybe back here he can find that thing that he had earlier this year.”

And to make matters worse shortstop Rafael Furcal is getting an MRI to check out his lower back.
“Evidently last night he made an awkward catch,” Torre said. “He felt something in his back, so he’s getting an MRI.”
Nothing will be decided on Furcal until the results of the MRI come back.
So now the Dodgers forge on ahead, but where exactly their forging towards is still unknown.
