You can always count on Councilmember Tom LaBonge for his quarterly hikes that mark the change in season. Tomorrow's Autumnal equinox will be celebrated with a public hike to the peak of Mount Hollywood. “It’s all about enjoying a hike in the middle of the city with friends and neighbors,” said Councilmember LaBonge. “It’s a great way to celebrate nature and the change of seasons.”

It certainly won't feel like Autumn (but does it ever at this time of year?) as Southern California will be experiencing Red Flag weather. Expect highs of 99 degrees in Los Feliz, the closest neighborhood to the hike's starting point at the Charlie Turner Trailhead.

LaBonge enthusiastically hikes to the top of Mount Hollywood, 1,625 feet above sea level, every morning, see if you can catch up to him tomorrow. Hikers will begin gathering at the north end of the Griffith Observatory Parking Lot at 5 p.m. and depart for the summit at 5:30 p.m.
