The brutal drenching Southern California took back in 2005 shut down a good deal of recreational space around Los Angeles. An LAist favorite included the trail Henniger Flats in Altadena, but more locally was the loss of the Lake Hollywood Reservoir

Tomorrow morning a good-sized portion of the pedestrian-only path will reopen to the public. The 1.4 mile path will start at the Montlake Dr./Tahoe Dr. gates in the Hollywood Knolls and circumvent the eastern trail until Weidlake Drive. Already open is the trail northwest of the gate that leads to the upper reservoir, about 3/4ths of a mile away.

“Lake Hollywood is one of those much-loved, hidden treasures of Los Angeles and so this day is particularly welcome to people who love coming here and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city,” said Councilmember Tom LaBonge of the area just below the Hollywood Sign. The gates will be opened at an 8 a.m. press conference.

Tip: Combine your walk with the hidden staircases of Hollywoodland. Read the plan and look at the photos.
