LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy
I barely know 'er! LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Photo via LAist Flickr Pool, by ciana13.
Great stuff this week, including a 2nd Aziz Ansari show (Aziz interview here), The Lampshades in limited engagement at iO West, and the Birthday Boys at UCB. Don't miss out, and email Farley your next show!
MONDAY 2/02
Garage Comedy, 9p El Cid. A crazy mix of stand up and sketch and wackiness in Silver Lake.
Crash Test, 11p UCB. Huebel and Scheer (Human Giant) rock some really crazy experimental stuff, usually some form of sketch. Tonight with Ed Helms and Ali Waller.
TUESDAY 2/03
Queers of Comedy, 8p MBAR. This is pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
Clean Comedy, 8p The Improv. The Queers of Comedy promise a blue show. Here is your alternative.
WEDNESDAY 2/04
Birthday Boys, 8p UCB. This incredible sketch group does their once-a-month residency at UCB. Not to be missed (unless you're going to see Aziz).
Aziz Ansari, 9p Largo. Due to popular demand, including from Kanye himself, Aziz is back for one more round of laughs at Largo. Should be awesome.
THURSDAY 2/05
Orny Adams, 8p Comedy & Magic Club. A great longtime stand up who’s worked with Seinfeld, been on Letterman and Leno. His DVD/CD “Path of Most Resistance” is awesome.
Carlos Alazraqui / Jill-Michele Melean, 8p Ice House. Two impressionists square off on stage together.
FRIDAY 2/06
Smug Rock Nation, 9p UCB. As a sort of homage to the late Indie 103.1, two-thirds of Convoy head up this hilarious showcase.
Comedy Central Presents Dan Levy, 10p(?) Comedy Central. OK, it’s not local per se, but check your LOCAL listings for this great new CC presents special by the awesome Dan Levy.
SATURDAY 2/07
The Lampshades, 8p iO West. Kate Flannery of The Office and Scot Robinson are outrageous lounge singers, and it’s really really absurd and funny. Highly recommended.
Brett Kreischer, 9:30p The Improv. The former “#1 Partier In America” (Rolling Stone) takes to the stage in Hollywood.
SUNDAY 2/08
iO West Sketch Cage Match, 8p iO West. The Seven Year Plan attempts to hold on to their title against 7 newcomers in this sketch comedy battle royale.
Comedy Revival, 8p Comedy Store. Adam Barnhardt hosts this weekly showcase in the Comedy Store Belly Room.
