Found in LA: Barack Obama Palling Around with Sea Turtle and Reptile

President Elect Barack Obama featured in a mural found outside a West LA business palling around with a sea turtle and reptile | Photo by Tim Hammer/LAist

Barack Obama is still eight days away from moving into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but at 12003 Pico Boulevard, the president elect has already moved in. This West LA location features a mural of Obama palling around with a reptile and sea turtle.

When Fox News' Sean Hannity finds out about this he's going to want to know why this image, which can be seen outside the Fish Reef Reptile shop located at Pico and Westgate, was withheld until after the election. If you knew he was a reptile guy would you have voted for him?

This can't be confirmed but rumor has it that the president-elect met these creatures of the sea the last time he walked on water.

That's the weirdest thing ever -- made even moreso by that not being a sea turtle. Certainly the artist brought forth a stylized chelonian whose body resembles a sea turtle's shape and coloration, but sea turtles have fins not toes, nor do they have a mohawk of spines down their carapace.

No clue what the other creature might be... a chameleon, maybe?

PS and then I'll shut up: sea or land, turtles are reptiles, too.

Hey Will. Thanks for the correction. It has been a long time since I took any sort of biology class. I don't know much about the reptiles. I do know that that mural NEEDED to be photographed.

is the local business an aquarium/reptile store?? I'm looking for someone to give my money to now that my local one closed down (and the evil Petco doesn't cut it)... Although I probably wouldn't entrust the care of my turtle to whoever did the mural!!

Next time I'll read the whole post before commenting! ;)

Oh, and, here is a pic of a sea turtle I took in Hawaii about a week ago:

I am not sure which cracks me up the most, the article or the headline. Good one. ROFLMAO
