Yep, its just about that time folks. Its quarter three, and in the video game world that means some of the coolest titles of the year will start to be fully stocked in store shelves in time for the holidays. While the availability of highly anticipated games is enough to get even the most frugal gamer excited, with the economy the way it is, $60 per game is starting become way too much of a burden for those of us who have to spend the same on a tank of gas. But if you’re bored yet cheap, it just so happens that our friends at Capcom have got you covered. If you already own a next-gen console (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or Nintendo Wii), downloadable content (or DLC) is the way to go, and we’ve got the scoop on some of the best new games available under $15.

LAist was lucky enough to sit down with our friends at Capcom to check out their latest suite of downloadable games available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PS3. The most anticipated of the bunch is MegaMan 9, which harkens back to the days of 8-bit gaming glory in a smart nostalgic cash in. Hey, just because its published in 2008 doesn’t mean it can’t look vintage. Slated for a September release, MegaMan 9 will be available on Wii Ware, Xbox Live and Playstation Network.

Next up we got to check out Flock, a cute sheep abduction game with vibrant graphics and an entertaining, casual form of gameplay. Controlling a UFO with a tractor beam, players herd sheep around various parts of the environment while avoiding obstacles and completing missions. Amidst all the sheep navigation, players are able to create somewhat of a matchmaking situation (basically hooking randy male sheep up with the flirtatious females) with the hopes of populating the world. We’re not sure, but this could be sheep-herding at its most entertaining.

The final game in Capcom’s arsenal of DLC is Age of Booty, a casual online multi-player title set in the swashbuckling days of pirates and pillaging. The fact that Age of Booty is a real-time strategy game would make its bang-for-your-buck factor seem to be the highest of the three, but again it all depends on your style. Lead by Halo 2 and 3 designer Max Hoberman, players navigate a ship through various environments against other players online, taking over treasure and land in hopes of dominating an entire map. With 25 different environments and a separate map-creator, Age of Booty should definitely be on your list of cheap games to download this year.
