New Carpool Lane Connector for 5/14 Freeways

hovdirectconnector.jpgOn Monday, Caltrans will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a carpool lane (HOV) direct connector. These are those carpool lanes that let you make a freeway-to-treeway transfer without changing lanes. "It provides a seamless transportation network," explained Jeanne Bonfilio of Caltrans to LAist over the phone. She said that it's worked so well at two other locations in the county (57/60 and 105/110 interchanges) that they decided to do another one. The $156.6 million project will go in both directions at the 5/14 interchange and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2012.
