The Seventh Python Premiere 6/26/08

Last night The Mods and Rockers Film Festival started out with a bang. Local magic man Martin Lewis kicked out the jams once again. The evening started with out-takes from The Rutles: All you Need is Cash. There are so many subtleties missed the first time around, it was still enjoyable to watch the clips again.

Next up was the main event - Frozen Picture's The Seventh Python. Director Burt Kearns did an amazing job. Read our review of the film and check out the Innes interview.

The last featurette of the evening was a concert of The Bonzo Dog Band reunion, featuring The Young Ones' Adrian Edmondson and other special guests. A highlight was definitely the cover of Marlene Dietrich's "Falling in Love Again (I Can't Help It)" along with the anticipated hit, "My Brother makes the Noises for the Talkies". It's a bit like The Mothers of Invention crossed with R Crumb and British vaudeville. Neil Innes shows off his musical chops by playing a newspaper. You have to see it to believe it.

Producer Brett Hudson, director Burt Kearns, and Neil Innes were on hand for a Q&A with skilled interviewer Martin Lewis. They also fielded questions from the audience. Check out video of a portion of the Q&A after the jump. The night ended with another rolicking good time in the Mods and Rockers clubhouse. I think everybody in town must owe Martin a beer by now!
