Kitchen 24: Hollywood's Newest All-Night Trendy Diner

The latest food-wise buzz coming out of Hollywood these days is Kitchen 24, the new all-night, all-day trendy diner that has easily already become part of the Cahuenga Crawl itinerary. The food is decent enough and the service was clumsy (yet pretty fast). But that won't stop hoards of people patronizing the clad white restaurant, complete with full bar and DJ set up. That's because of one important factor: location. Nestled between two bars, Citizen Smith and Velvet Margarita, Kitchen 24 will serve the myriads of matinal and nocturnal people who visit those clubs and other businesses in the nearby area including Hotel Cafe, ArcLight, Amoeba, the soon-to-be Ecco, Theatre of Note and the list could go on and on.

Kudos to the owners for the late nite eats
-- and for their website's classy nod to the space's earlier life as jazz club: Shelley's Manne-Hole.

I like the idea of late nite food in the area, but it seems like just about everything else in the vicinity. High on style, and lacking in just about everything else.

I'm not impressed. Gonna stick with the street meat. Much tastier and the service is excellent :)

If there's elotes out on the street, I'll definitely hit that up. However, I would recommend everyone who is looking for food in the area at least try it once. You never know.

I'll be back for sure, just will be trying out different menu items.

Wow that was fast!

Yeah, I enjoyed the Bloody Mary a lot (nice and spicy), and the BLT was totally serviceable, with yummy, thick bacon (hope the tomatoes don't poison me though).

Overall, I'd definitely go back, and it's always nice to have another lunch option in the area. I was surprised that the service was as quick as it was, given all the poor reviews so far. But for a four-top, in and out in about an hour at a busy lunch spot is totally reasonable.

Thanks to Zach, Joseph, & Cody for coming out with me!

That veggie burger looks pretty tasty.

I think I'm going Monday night and I might need to keep that in mind.

DJ set up. I am ever so slightly annoyed.

I stopped by for breakfast yesterday. I loved it! The waiter was a bit slow and forgetful, but the food and atmosphere made up for it. The prices are low, and the food was great. I'm happy to have a place like that within walking distance of my apartment. I'll definitely be going back.

THE SERVICE IN THIS PLACE IS ATROCIOUS! For those who posted before that you'd come back in a month - don't even put forth the effort; nothing has changed. I came in with a group of 6 at 11:15 pm on a Saturday. We got seated right away but then waited 15 minutes for a server to even approach our table to ask about drinks (only when I flagged her down, did she come over). It took her another 5 minutes to bring over a coke, diet coke 2 waters and 2 cocktails (she didn't bring them all together either). She took our order which consisted of: 3 BLT's, a burger and an order of fish and chips. It took over an hour to receive 3 BLT's (one of which looked like bacon bits has been added to it, while the others had huge piles of bacon on it). Then it took another 20 minutes for the other 2 dishes to arrive - the burger was prepared wrong and sent back. 15 minutes later, the other 2 dishes arrive, plus the BLT lacking bacon was received - The burger was STILL wrong!!! The server said she'd take off 50% from the bill, but later said the manager wouldn't allow it. Instead, they gave us some crappy cupcakes for free. I am NEVER going back to this place. Avoid at all costs!!! They have a manager who has no idea how to treat customers for his lack of experience running a pass or the restaurant itself. I don't totally blame the server, but a good server would notice that it taking over 90 minutes to serve a burger, fried fish and 3 BLT's. Save time and go someplace else, I'm sure you'll be treated with more respect almost anywhere else.
