Universal Studios Fire 911 Call Audio

TMZ got hold of the 911 call when the fire Universal Studios was reported. It's amazing how calm everything sounds.

It's interesting to note that Universal Studios is never mentioned in this call, only Universal City, which is often incorrectly thought of as Universal Studios and the neighborhood of Cahuenga Pass (it's only a general area). The reason she asks for the address first is that she can easily dispatch fire engines to the scene as the phone conversation continues.

The studio may not be mentioned, but the operator clearly understands it's the studio - notice how she immediately asks for a building number?

The hardwall buildings on the lot are all numbered - it's a rough grid system, where the first two digits of the four-digit building number are grid numbers west to east (1-9) and north to south (1-5).

The buildings in the fire area are mostly 61xx - King Kong is 6194, the video vault that burned is 6197. The 61xx tells you it's bit more than midway across the lot (6), and at the northern edge near the river (1).

The film vault that didn't burn is a bit further south, so it's 6217.

(To see a map with the building numbers, go to http://www.filmmakersdestination.com/working/ and click the link that says Universal Lot Map.)

Yeah, she knew what was going on, she asked all the right questions.
