Worldfest is Back on Saturday

After a one year hiatus, one of the best green festivals, Worldfest, is back. Two years ago, the solar-powered festival scheduled near Earth Day was a gem among the numerous green events around the city. Located at Woodley Park in Encino, steps away from the eponymous Metro Orange Line station, a slew of eco-friendly vendors showed off their wares, vegan chefs shared their creations and music and recognizable faces from the eco-scene were everywhere to be heard and seen.

On Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the festival makes its comeback, once again with plenty of vendors, lots of veggie food (including Madeleine's Bistro, Leaf Cuisine, SunFlour Baking Company, Samosa House and the girls from Spork Foods), two speakers tents, a kids area, an animal adoption area, a music lounge and a main stage.

One of the highlights? New York Times bestselling author of Skinny Bitch, Rory Freedman, will be speaking and hanging out to talk about animal rights.

If this year's festival is anything like previous ones, it will be one of those kid in a candy store moments. With organic sweets, of course.

Worldfest is $7 for regular admission, $5 for seniors and free for children under the age of 12. They say pets are welcome.
