DVD Review: Albert Collins: Live at Montreux 1992

collinsmontreaux.jpg

Prior to his 1993 death, legendary guitarist Albert Collins played a rare second show at Montreaux and yesterday--after a 15 year wait--that show (Collins' last recorded concert) finally came to DVD. Despite his poor health, the Master of the Telecaster plays a loose, fun show as he burns through "Iceman", "Honey Hush", "Lights Are On (But Nobody's Home)", "If You Love Me Like You Say", "Too Many Dirty Dishes", "Put The Shoe On The Other Foot" and "Frosty".

There are also a few cuts from Collins' previous 1979 appearance at Montreaux. In the '92 show--his impending death evident to him--Collins plays like a man thrilled to be onstage. In '79, Collins is in full-on, tight blues mode as he unleashes "Listen Here", "Snatchin' It Back", "Cold Cold Feeling" and "Frosty". For any Albert Collins fan--hell, for any blues fan--this is a DVD you should definitely pick up soon.

Albert Collins!

Right up there with the Blues greats!

Thanks Josh! This is a must buy!

This is the guy from Adventures in Babysitting, no? Sorry I don't know anything about awesome guitarists, but I do know about Adventures in Babysitting. "Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues."
