Holiday Songs: Christmas In LA
Snow. It's great when you're watching it from inside a heated room, like magic dust bunnies dropping from the celestial ceiling. It's much less magical when you're trying to strategically pee inside your car door to defrost the locks. Call it lifestyle differences, we Angelenos prefer our holidays merry and BRIGHT with a high of 72. The following local heroes offer proof positive that a white Christmas is not a requirement for high spirits.
REDD KROSS - Super Sunny Xmas"Christmas is upon us now, it's summertime!" Redd Kross are true to their school, born and raised, and provide an anthem to blast in the background while sending relatives back east pictures of yourself hanging out by the pool on Christmas day.
More tunes after the jump!
EL VEZ - Feliz Navi-NadaA visit from the Mexican Elvis is always welcome around the holidays, and for this one he's brought Jose Feliciano and the original lineup of PiL along with him. We hope you hid the breakables.
WONDERMINTS - Ski Party
Come on... if this invitation were real, you'd be totally getting ready to call in sick Monday.
THE MUFFS - Nothing For Me
I vividly remember the Muffs doing this song live twelve years ago, at one of the Ringling Sisters' benefit shows. Kim Shattuck was dolled up in her Christmas best, hair in pigtails, and she belted out this tale of Santa's cruelty with the intensity of Dawn Davenport denied cha-cha heels.
BECK - The Little Drum Machine Boy
Beck drops Hanukkah science and reclaims this Christmas tune for the Old School.
