LAist Recommends: Bob's Holiday Office Party

The Triplet Sisters drink at Bob's Holiday Office PartyIf you want to laugh non-stop for an hour and a half, then go see Bob's Holiday Office Party at The Lounge Theatre in Hollywood. This slapstick Holiday play is hilariously fucked up and the riot that is the party at Bob's will leave you smiling like no other. The whole audience is LOLOLOLOLOLOLROFLOLOLOLOL the whole time -- pure insanity.

Every year in a small Iowa town, insurance agent Bob Finhead throws an office party for his clients. Smalls towns are great, especially this one. The in-closet gay Mayor, the flirting sheriff, the coolest triplet sisters ever, the stoner, the loose and drunk woman and the pastor's wife all come together. Yeah, that's a good combination of people... for us to laugh at (or as Triumph the dog would say "for us to poop on!")

And only quality actors can pull something this good off. In performance, a true mark of an artist is when the performer can play as if everything said and done was of the moment, not memorized and recalled for the stage. And Rob Elk (Bob) and his cast are doing just that. The acting, the spoken word and stage movement is so natural, you forget that these people you are watching and laughing at/with are actors. Go see Bob's Holiday Office Party.

Rob Elk is great. I've loved him ever since seeing "Triple Espresso" in San Diego a year or two ago.
