7 Reasons to Love L.A.
My asshole has been clenched in anticipation since October 18, 2006 for the fourth season of the Bravo hit show Project Runway.
On that Wednesday evening, I was at a Project Runway finale viewing party my friend threw at her apartment in West LA watching local designer and Cosa Nostra founder Jeffrey Sebelia win the whole kit and caboodle.
Starting tomorrow there will be 15 brand new contestants vying for:
- An editorial feature in Elle shot by Gilles Bensimon
- $100,000 of seed money from TRESemmé hair care to start their own line
- A 2008 Saturn Astra
- An opportunity to sell their line on Bluefly.com
Supermodel Heidi Klum, designer Michael Kors and Elle fashion director Nina Garcia will once again judge the designers in often outrageous and improbable challenges. Tim Gunn will also remain as mentor to the designers.
After looking through all of the designers’ bios, I can’t wait to see what gets churned out.
One designer in particular, Christian, 21, of Annapolis, MD (pictured right) really interests me. He has that complete douchey look and in his interview seemed very blah. But he has some level of audacity that can either be great for the show or make him to be a complete joke.
Then there’s Jack, 38, originally from Seattle, WA (pictured left). He mentions in his interview that he was a former club kid despite looking like a complete tool now. It’s also interesting that he set a national record in the breaststroke leg of the 4 x 50 meter medley relay in 2006.
And one can't forget the challenges. Last season the designers had to create a look using only recyclable materials picked up at a recycling plant. In season two they had to create a garden party dress using only plants and flowers. Perhaps this season they will have to design a dress using scrap metal and a AA battery? How very McGeyver!
After more than a year of waiting, I just can’t wait for this to get started. Fuck football, fuck baseball, fuck basketball. It’s Project Runway time!
