Wilco @ The Greek, 08/29/07
Last night Jeff Tweedy and the boys of Wilco performed a stellar two hour long set at the Greek. Since I had a wall pass, I had the pleasure of people watching and I must say that Wilco fans are happy folk. Singing along and even dancing at times, the fans were enraptured by the incredible musicianship.
The bashful yet charismastic Jeff Tweedy led the crowd through a set comprised of half Sky Blue Sky and half oldies, sporadically conversing directly with members of the audience. Tweedy was entirely personable and I think I might have a man crush on him. Nels Cline nearly blew my face off with his impeccable, wailing solos, prompting me to turn to my friend and whisper: "That guy is way too good".
Highlights included: "Jesus, Etc.", "I'm The Man Who Loves You", "Heavy Metal Drummer", "Walken, "Impossible Germany", "Shake It Off", and "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart".
Oh and it wasn't me with the lighter during "Jesus, Etc". I swear. I know better than to show up in that neck of the woods with anything remotely flammable.
