- Philanthropist and civic leader Brooke Astor died today at the age of 105.
- Ruh Roh: A recently unearthed National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health indicated that there were "poor roof conditions" in the Utah mine tunnels after a "large bump occurred ... resulting in heavy damage."
