Look... Up in the Sky...

Vans Sky Gallery billboard featuring Kelsey Brookes

Vans has come up with a pretty cool new way of displaying art, the Vans Sky Gallery. They've picked six artists, 3 of which are still a secret, to show their artwork, scattered on billboards around the city of LA. The artists revealed so far are Marco Zamora, Sage Vaughn, and Kelsey Brookes (shown above). The billboards will be up for two months, and all of the artists work will be shown in a gallery this November.
Vans is also making $1000 donations to the artists charity of choice in their behalf, "giving back to the city that has given the company and these artists so much."

The three artists chosen so far are certainly worth a damn, I'm really curious who the three remaining artists are. I've also posted some more pictures of Kelsey Brookes' work under the cut, one is a picture of the shoes he customized. I REALLY want a pair of those!

You hear me Vans?! Make those shoes!

that last picture looks reminiscent of Radiohead's logo for Kid A..or Amnesiac, i can't remember which

I walk past the four-eyed leopard type baby on highland and sunset everyday. I love her work; she's great!

I used to work with Kelsey back when we were both biotech lab monkeys in San Diego. I didn't even read the post text but when I saw the tiger-shoes immediately thought, "Hunh, that looks a lot like the insanity Kelsey used to draw on all the boxes and white-boards in lab." There is still have a diorama he made out of lab supplies hanging around the old office. I'm just mad happy the kid is doing well, and want to point out that those particular anthropomorphic beings are tame compared to his normal fare.
