Who Needs Jack, Janet and Chrissy?

"Lance," "Matthew" and "Jake"

What would happen if Lance Armstrong, Jake Gyllanhaal and Matthew McConaughey shacked up (almost platonically) for a summer at Armstrong's Malibu pad? We checked out Three Companeros, a stage parody of the sitcom Three's Company, to find out out. Unbeknownst to his rommies, Armstrong is deciding which actor will play him in his biopic, and the tension continues to mount as the wacky landlord hosts a female visitor that all the companeros are hot for.

Actor Taran Killam nails the part of McConaughey, and the sexual energy sparks when he and "Lance" mock "Jake" by acting out Brokeback Mountain scenes. Very convincingly.

The performance is short and sweet (30 min.), but was unexpectedly prefaced with unfunny skits that actually lasted longer than the show.

Three Companeros
, written/directed by Amy Rhodes. May 3 and May 17, 8:00pm, at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (Hollywood). Admission $5. Reservations at www.ucbtheatre.com

I saw this show too...seriously hilarious

Fantastic show. Drew Droege and Taram Kilim in particular.

I saw this play, it's fantastic! Growing up watching 3's Company and seeing this spin on it tickled me pink.

HILARIOUS show!! Amy Rhodes is a genius. GO SEE THIS!!

Go see this show before it gets turned into a movie or television show so you can act all cool when it does, like "Pffft, I knew that movie/t.v. show back when it was just a stage show" and your friends will be jealous and feel like bandwangoneers.

This show is a must-see. From the hilarious performances to the clever writing it's a gem through-and-through.

Great show. Laughed out loud. Worth seeing!

this show needs to be on tv tomorrow. you see shows and often the cast is great but the writing is just ok or the writing is brilliant but the actors are so-so. three comps is different. this show has both. amy rhodes is a crazy good writer, and her cast is hilarious. this is a must see. i think it's been extended like three times already. CHECK IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously funny, if you grew up watching three's company (who didn't?) you'll laugh your ass off.

Fortunately, I have no recollection of the "unfunny skits that actually lasted longer than the show."

Even more fortunately, Amy Rhodes, as stated, is a genius and I can only recall how much I enjoyed "Three Companeros" -- It's better than CATS! (I have allergies...)

I hope everyone can make it to this show @ the UCB. It is really hilarious, I love the way Jake Gyllanhaal is portrayed. The dynamic between the three actors is amazing, Drew Droege is extremely talented and Amy Rhodes produced something really great. GO SEE IT!!!!

this show is hilarious. pretty much every mcconaughey line left us wondering if she had written it or lifted it from an interview. amy is so spot on.

GREAT GREAT SHOW!! Everyone involved will benefit from the sheer brilliance of Amy Rhodes when we can say "I remember them when..." Highly recommend you see this show. Highly...higher than highly....hightest. You get the idea.

Better than a double feature of Cats AND A Chorus Line!
