In Memorium - Seattle's Finest

Kurt Cobain died thirteen years ago today. He had a crazy wife, insane parents, and a terrible stomach that he ended up trying to cure with heroin.

No one has come close to his greatness.

Enjoy this genius SNL performance.

Everyone needs to get real about Cobain. He was amazing, no doubt about it. Totally amazing. But when I hear things like "Nobody has come close to his greatness," I have to roll my eyes. Let's get a little perspective here. There were incredible trailblazers like Cobain long before he showed up on the scene, and plenty have emerged since. The whole "I killed myself at the height of my career and therefore it's okay to blow my impact on the world way out of proportion and anyone who criticizes me is insensitive" phenomenon is no better exemplified than in Kurt Cobain's legacy. Let's all just cool out.
