Canstruction comes to LA

canhotdog.jpg

Yeah, we see that the LA Times already provided us with plenty of food- and container-based puns regarding this event, but for some idiotic reason we can't resist telling you to get off your can and check out what's happening at the Westfield Fashion Square this weekend. Phew. Glad that's out of our system.

It's the Canstruction design competition/canned food drive, come to our fair city at last. Competing teams work to make giant sculptures out of canned food, and when the judging is over at the end of the week, all of the food is distributed to shelters, food banks, elderly care centers, and other groups in need. Sounds a lot less wasteful to us than the Rose Parade, that's for sure.

The competitors set up their entries last night and early this morning in Sherman Oaks at the Westfield Fashion Square Mall, and you can check them out from now until October 4th (bring some canned items while you're at it). Thanks to Apartment Therapy LA for the tip.
