Locals Unhappy with the President May Actually do Something

Inbetween bar-b-ques, visits to the beach, gravity bongloads, and long drives along the coast with girls half their age, some Los Angelenos are going to express their frustration with the current administration. A few will do it in public places where all can see.

Now here at LAist would never advise anyone to break the law and ducttape banners or large cardboard boxes on the chain fences over the 10 or 101 or 405 like the Freeway Blogger might do.

But there are some legal ways that you can get the message out that you're unsatisfied with this war, and domestic spying, and CIA agents being outted, and the fact that we're all supposed to feel joyous about sub $3/gallon gas prices.

If you want to place a sign on your moving van and legally park it over the 10, that might be an idea. If you want to collect funds around your neighborhood and pay for a plane to carry your message over sunbathers along the Pacific, that might be an option. Or if you want to rollerblade along the boardwalk in your bikini top passing out flyers that simply say IMPEACH, we would approve.

Whatever you do this weekend, we hope that some of it would be civic-minded, or something to help the poor or homeless. But if the best that you can do is spread the word that you're disappointed in the darkness that has taken over the People's House, then we agree with the Freeway Blogger and hope that you do something to express yourself.

Then have your tofudog.

Here's an idea Tony. Why don't you freakin' stop droning on about politics and start talking about LA?

Awwww, poor Mitch likes George Bush. How cute.

Unbelievable. An ad driven blog where the writers mock the readers in the comments.

...deleting from my RSS reader....

Bye Tony!

Greatest. Compliment. Ever.

thank you Mitch.

Yes, we mock the President in the post, and we mock those commentors who 1) diss the concept of citizens being civic-minded 2) fail to realize that part of being an American or an LAist is involving yourself in federal politics 3) think that it's ok for this administration to: lie about WMDs, tap our phones, not persue those truly responsible for 9/11, play guitar while our brothers and sisters in NO drown, give tax cuts to the wealthy while our budget deficit balloons, out CIA agents... shall I go on?

You're entitled to your opinoin Mitch but so does everyone else in this country, including the editor of this blog.

And yes, we all know you hate that.

You tell 'em, Tony.

Although I would like to say, I find the endless parade of banners on planes that fly over some beaches to be completely obnoxious.

The one in the photo is by far the best, of course.

I just thought I would add that there is nothing illegal about posting political signs on public roads. It's a right first demanded and secured by the founding fathers. Thomas Paine would be very proud.
