The Million Writers Award for Fiction has begun its second year. Organized by storySouth magazine, it's a little like American Idol for short stories: a huge group is selected by judges, then winnowed down, then put before the public for a vote. There will be just 10 finalists offered to the public vote, and the purse the winner takes away — well, it's pretty modest. This is one of those cases where just being nominated — and having people read the stories — if the real reward. Congrats to these LA writers for making the semifinal 128:
Ali Fahmy
Caroline Kepnes
Jeff Leavell
Meghan McCarron
Daniel A. Olivas
Jenn Reese
Jim Ruland
Devan Sagliani
Our apologies to Angel Uriel Perales, whose story is archived on a server that jams up our spamblocker. It originally appeared in Lily Lit Review.

It's funny that your article on writing had a tyop in it:
"This is one of those cases where just being nominated — and having people read the stories — if the real reward."
It's funny that you misspelled "typo." Ooh, snap!
