A new poll on Slate tempts parents with a click-bait question: Do you spend enough time with your kids?

It's a calculator where you plug in how much time you spend with your children on an average weekday, then again on an average weekend day. Then, voila! It compares you with every other parent in the country based on more than a decade of data from the American Time Use survey. What this algorithm does not tell you is whether you're spending too much time with your kid, or in other words, if you're a helicopter parent.

Teacher and mother Jessica Lahey recently wrote "I complained about helicopter parents for years. Then I realized I was one," for Vox. She also has a new book out called "The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed." She joined host Alex Cohen to talk about her own parenting experiences.
