Black Lives Matter-LA Co-founder Melina Abdullah
This past Monday, the Los Angeles city council considered many of the ideas proposed by the local chapter of Black Lives Matter. In what they call "The Peoples Budget," BLM L.A. wants to put a spotlight on just how much the city spends on policing and the group surveyed Angelenos to ask them where THEY think the money should be spent instead.. At the same meeting, council members threw their support behind a motion to consider a new system of public safety... in which professionals aside from the LAPD might be called in to help. It’s called a “systematic crisis-response plan."
