Research into the negative effects of too much praise is now fairly well-known and accepted — at least by early childhood experts. But parents aren't listening.

Independent filmmaker, Ramona Persaud, home-schools her 2 year old son, Rohan, and 5 year old daughter, Anjali. Her latest film, "Grey Matters" looks at brain based learning for children. Persaud is not an advocate of slathering her children with praise.

Research into the negative effects of too much praise is now fairly well-known and accepted — at least by early childhood experts. But parents aren't listening.

As a parent, it might be difficult not to praise your kids for everything they do, but researchers say constant praise is a bad thing. As KPCC's Deepa Fernandes reports, unfortunately, parents are not listening.
