Every year around tax day, Californians threaten to leave the state over the high income tax rate. This year, a few very wealthy residents have added reason to consider it; they’ll be paying retroactively higher taxes this year because of Governor Brown’s Prop 30.

This year, a few very wealthy residents have added reason to consider it; they’ll be paying retroactively higher taxes this year because of Governor Brown’s Prop 30. And as it turns out, it’s actually very difficult to leave a state for good.
