Recall 101: Ballots are Out for California’s Recall Election. Here’s What You Need to Know
Registered voters around California are receiving mail-in ballots for the Sept. 14 election on whether to recall Governor Gavin Newsom. Voters are asked to answer two questions: Do they want to recall Newsom, yes or no? And who should replace him if more than 50% of voters say “yes” to question one? Statewide recalls are rare in California - this is the first since the successful recall of Governor Gray Davis in 2003 - so a lot of us have questions about how exactly this works. Today on AirTalk, KPCC Senior Politics Reporter Libby Denkmann joins Larry for a “Recall 101” primer on what you need to know to vote in this election. Do you have a question about how the recall election works? Call us at 866-893-5722, comment on the AirTalk Facebook or Twitter pages, or email us at atcomments@kpcc.org.

Today on AirTalk, we speak with former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer about why he’s running, how he would address the state’s most pressing issues, and how he’d work with a Democrat-controlled state legislature if elected.
Recall 101: Kevin Paffrath, Candidate for California Governor
YouTuber and real estate broker Kevin Paffrath occupies a rare space on question two of the recall election ballot: he’s running as a Democrat. The California Democratic Party and Governor Gavin Newsom have urged voters who oppose the recall to leave the second question - about who should replace Newsom if he is recalled - blank. But Paffrath says he’s a middle-of-the-road option who will be able to work with the Democrat-controlled state legislature more effectively than a Republican candidate would. Today on AirTalk, we speak with YouTuber and real estate broker Kevin Paffrath about why he’s running and his plans for California if elected.
