LA County’s sex abuse lawsuit crisis
Over the last year, an LA Times investigation has found that a law practice by the name of Downtown L.A. Law Group—a pivotal player in the county’s recent $4-billion sex abuse settlement—was paying people to sue LA County. California law bans a practice known as capping, in which non-attorneys directly solicit or procure clients to sign up for lawsuits with a law firm. This has prompted some lawmakers to question whether the law that allowed these claims went too far. Joining us today is Rebecca Ellis, LA Times staff writer, who is following the latest on the LA County sex abuse lawsuits.
How do you —or did you — pick a retirement community?
When it comes time to think about how you want to spend your golden years, there’s a number of considerations to take into account. Considerations like: how much alcohol do I want to drink on a daily basis? How many pottery wheels do I feel are important to be around? How many people do I want to interact with on a daily basis and how much alcohol do I want said people to be drinking? These are all important questions that must be mulled over before making such a decision. Today on AirTalk, we’re turning the mic over to you and asking what did or will you take into consideration when picking a retirement community? Or hey, how are you going about helping your parents pick a place? Give us a call at 866-893-5722 or you can email us at atcomments@laist.com.
