Gary Weinberg and Melanie Smith evacuated from their home near Sylmar. Weinberg writes, this ridge was 'green when I went to sleep on Sunday, and a solid wall of flame Monday morning. It's a miracle no homes were destroyed.' They were back safe Wednesday.
