Beers aren't the only things that get "topped off." The head of the ironworkers union tells John that skyscrapers get the same treatment.
The beams--the last to be installed--will ascend to the top of the 54-story LA Live Tower. The fir trees symbolize a job done without serious injury. The beams are signed by the Japanese steelworkers who made them, the job's 1,000 construction workers, and local schoolkids.
