Jennie Martorana, co-founder of Eagle Rock's revered Casa Bianca pizza restaurant, died June 16 of complications due to a stroke. Martorana and her late husband Sam, founded the beloved eatery with Sam's brother Joe in 1955. She was 88.

A pedestrian crossing the street in South Los Angeles was struck by a hit-and-run driver, and was struck a second time when he was lying in the roadway. The victim, a 66-year-old male, was dragged nearly 200 feet beneath the second vehicle, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
