When it comes to what's on tap, turns out we're tops. Have a little Cali pride, brew lovers, because our state has been named the #1 in Beer by The Street. The ranking comes thanks to a look at some data from the Brewers Association and Beer Institute as well as a look at four key criteria: production, consumption, breweries and breweries per capita.

"Streets are for people!" is the rally and battle cry of Park[ing] Day L.A., which is set to take place for the fifth year on Friday, September 16th. That's the day when "Park-itects" around Los Angeles will turn metered curbside parking spaces into mini-urban parks.

It's back to the bargaining table for union leaders and representatives from the three major local grocery store chains, and there will be no strike this week. Over the weekend, a vote by unionized grocery workers yielded a 90% return in favor of authorizing a strike.

A grocery store employee was stabbed multiple times Sunday afternoon while she worked her shift at a Santa Monica Albertson's store. The victim may have been stabbed by her estranged husband, says the Santa Monica Daily Press, and the Santa Monica Police Department are considering the man, Kelvin Green, a "person of interest."

The manhunt for the suspect in a gruesome double murder in Chatsworth came to an end last night in Encino when the Los Angeles Police Department apprehended Brent Zubeck, 43, after a lengthy stand-off that found parts of the neighborhood shut down, according to L.A. Now.

The investigation continues into the stabbing death of a Metro Red Line subway passenger last night in Hollywood. The victim, a Hispanic male in his 50s, became engaged in an argument with another passenger, an Asian male in his 20s, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
