Lance Harper

Chief Engineer (he/him)

Lance Harper is Southern California Public Radio's chief engineer, in charge of operating and maintaining the multiple transmission facilities, as well as the maintenance of the station's main production studios and news bureaus.

Lance started as a board operator for LAist (formerly KPCC) in August 1994. Through the remainder of the 90s, he performed multiple duties at LAist, including, programming traffic, billing, underwriting, production, and IT. He then became assistant operations director.

In 2000 Lance moved into broadcast engineering, assisting the chief engineer at the time, and later became the assistant chief in 2003.He ascended to chief engineer in 2009.

Harper is a member of The Society of Broadcast Engineers and the Association of Public Radio Engineers.
