Police are searching for a driver who slammed into a mother and son as they were walking across the street on Sunday, leaving both victims in critical condition. According to a statement from the LAPD, the incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 80th Street and Western Ave in the Manchester Square neighborhood.

When a man was stabbed recently on the Metro, it so happened that standing five feet away from him was Todd Martens, a music reporter with the LA Times. Martens has recounted what he saw to numerous media outlets already, including the LA Times. The victim and attacker, he said, were engaged in a shouting match when the victim grabbed a chain and began swinging it over his head.

Yesterday, L.A.'s Board of Public Works voted to deny a permit for Sunset Junction. The decision was made based on the fact that the organizers hadn't coughed up $142,000 to pay for this year's city services, including police, fire and transportation services. Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding nine suspects involved in the beating and shooting death of a 24-year-old man in South Los Angeles. According to a statement released by the LAPD, Miguel Casteneda was confronted by a Hispanic man in his mid-20's at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, while walking near Southwest Drive and 5th Avenue.

Two fires broke out this afternoon beside the I-15 freeway, near the Cajon Pass in San Bernadino, reports NBC Los Angeles. The fires have burned over 250 acres collectively, and destroyed one mobile home.

Authorities are looking for the public's help in finding information relating to the murder of 31-year-old Javier Hernandez Rojas. Rojas' body was found on Friday on the Pala Indian Reservation in Pala, CA, alongside Pala Temecula Road, according to a statement released by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Radio station 760 AM notes that there were no obvious injuries on the body.
