Students at Pierce College got to watch a helicopter do an emergency landing today (educational!) as an LAPD chopper touched down on their football field. The Daily News reports that it's not yet clear why the aircraft had to land, but that it may have been because of a warning light indicating a mechanical problem.

Shake off your umbrellas -- a winter storm warning is in effect for parts of SoCal starting at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow and ending at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service reports that a storm system is expected to hit the area tonight, and that by Tuesday, L.A. mountain ranges above 5,000 feet could see between ten and 15 inches of snow.

Employees at Food 4 Less, a grocery chain owned by Kroger, are threatening to walk off the job, reports the OC Register. The workers are reportedly angry about claims that workers at Ralph's, which is also owned by Kroger, make up to $3 more an hour than they do. The union has been in talks with Kroger, and they're expected to pick back up towards the end of the month.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments yesterday about whether last year's decision that Proposition 8 violates the rights of gays and lesbians should be thrown out because the judge who authored the ruling is gay. Former Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn R. Walker, who's now retired, revealed after deciding the case that he's been in a same-sex relationship for ten years.

A group of kids accused of selling drugs at their high school are about to learn a lesson the hard way -- 24 students were arrested yesterday in a raid, reports KTLA. Twelve of the teenagers taken into custody were from Vista De Lago High School in Moreno Valley, and the other twelve were from Elsinore High School in Wildomar.

Anyone who had the unfortunate experience of sitting through "The Hangover Part II" can tell you that it was little more than a regurgitation of the script from "The Hangover," set in Thailand and therefore featuring more racist stereotypes about Asian people.
