Over the past few months, at least two Hollywood professionals who work with underage actors have faced charges involving sexual offenses against children. The incidents have prompted a bill that would require all adults who work with kids in the entertainment industry to submit to a background check, reports the LA Times, and would prevent registered sex offenders from working with kids.

Police are looking for a man who raped a 14-year-old girl outside her apartment building in La Puente. The incident took place on January 2 in the evening, according to City News Service. The assailant, who's described as a young Hispanic man between the ages of 18 and 22 with a faux-hawk, started talking to the girl as she was walking towards the trash bins.

Angelo Bowers, the 26-year-old man who was killed by a drunk driver earlier this week in Hollywood, was a promising comedian who performed regularly on the local circuit. Since his death, the comedy community has been rallying to support his family, and to support Josh Adam Meyers, who was in the car with Bowers and was critically injured.

Police are looking for two teenagers who beat up a store clerk while they were stealing beer, reports KTLA. The two boys walked into a Circle K in Garden Grove at about 11 p.m. last night.

Plenty of us enjoy a nice cocktail aboard an aircraft to calm our nerves, but it's generally wise to know your limits while cruising at an altitude of 30,000 feet. One Minnesota man did not, and got so drunk on an L.A.-bound flight last night that he punched a flight attendant, then became convinced that he was being kidnapped when other passengers restrained him.

After slipping out of a pair of handcuffs and running from a courtroom, a defendant died when he fell off a three-story balcony in a Long Beach courthouse. City News Service reports that the man, whose name hasn't been released, was being sentenced after being convicted of domestic violence.

A drunk driver caused not one, but two accidents in Hollywood yesterday morning, leaving one person dead and two others injured, including the driver himself. The 21-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a Toyota Matrix first hit a taxi at Hollywood and Argyle, and fled the scene.
