After the third death, Caltrans launched an investigation into those deaths to assess whether signage, traffic enforcement and traffic volume could have played a role in those fatal crashes. The agency found that it is the drivers — and not the road — that are dangerous according to The Burbank Leader.

The coroner's office has confirmed that Hideki Irabu's death last month was a suicide, according to the Los Angeles Times. Coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey said Irabu hanged himself, confirming earlier reports from TMZ.

Authorities raiding a suspected meth house in Loma Linda on Tuesday found something unexpected: dozens of tombstones ripped from the graves of a nearby cemetery. The granite tombstones, which had custom inscriptions, were stolen from Montecito Cemetery in Colton.

Alan Paul Wurtzel, the legal inspiration for Match.com's stricter background checks, pleaded no contest to charges that he sexually assaulted a woman he met through the dating site, according to KTLA. Wurtzel, 67, is accused of sexually assaulting a 53-year-old TV executive Carole Markin on their second date. He is scheduled to be sentenced September 19. He faces one year in jail, five years of probation and he must register as a sex offender for life, according to KTLA.
