A 58-year-old woman was found murdered in her Beverly Hills home yesterday. Police discovered the murder when they went to check on the woman yesterday around 2 p.m. She was already dead in her home in the 100 block of North Hamilton Drive. Later on, they arrested a suspect at an office building nearby who they believe knows the woman, according to Beverly Hills Patch.

Plastic bottles have a bad reputation. Environmental groups complain they end up in landfills or the ocean where they take thousands of years to decompose. Even when they're recycled, their plastic can only be reused so many times. Some plastic bottle manufacturers have responded by creating bottles that they claim will biodegrade quicker. But state attorney general Kamala Harris says that these claims are nothing but greenwashing.

Atheists in Orange County who have been on a billboard crusade to spread their message forgot to do some research for their latest sign. The billboard features' Thomas Jefferson's mug and the quote: "I do not find in Christianity one redeeming feature. It is founded on fables and mythology."

Crews of gold-snatching criminals are roving neighborhoods in northeast and yanking the gold chains right off their victims, according to The Eastsider. So far nine robberies have been reported in Eagle Rock, East Hollywood, Highland Park and Cypress Park. Police believe that there are three separate crews of criminals that are targeting victims wearing gold chains.

Riverside County wants its residents to turn off the bright lights. The county's board of supervisors has given a tentative OK to a law meant to fight the kind of light pollution that makes it hard for residents to see stars from their backyards. The law that would require residents to shield bright exterior lights and point them away from their neighbor's homes and public streets. It wouldn't affect public street lights, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

Sheriff's deputies received a call from passers-by yesterday morning who reported that someone in a dry riverbed in Laguna Hills was screaming, according to the Orange County Register. They arrived to find the head and arms of a man — who so far remains nameless — sticking out of a hollowed-out tree.
