To request a waiver, districts, charter schools, and private schools will have to go through their county health officer.

The waivers are only available for schools that get approval from local health officers.

Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties are all on the state's coronavirus monitoring list. No in-person learning will be allowed in K-12 schools until their cleared.

Santa Ana Unified will "rely on the advice from our local and state health care agencies, along with community input and our Board of Education" to determine if and when campuses will reopen again for instruction, a spokesman said.
