Yamashiro's Fab, Fun Farmers' Market Kicks Off Their Season This Week!

Yeah, that's a pretty amazing view up at the Yamashiro Farmers' Market (Lindsay William-Ross/LAist)

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

One of L.A.'s coolest seasonal spots is the Yamashiro Farmers' Market, and the opening night is Thursday, up in the Hollywood Hills.

Worth the trek to Hollywood and the free shuttle ride for the panoramic view alone (time it with the sunset, please!), this seasonal market not only offers folks a chance to pick up farm fresh produce and artisanal goodies, but also shop for other food and lifestyle items, enjoy free entertainment, as well as grab a bite to eat.

This is where it all began for Yamashiro head chef Brock Kleweno and his beloved fusion tacos. Since the tacos have a permanent home down the hill at Komida, there's a new grill menu for this year's Market:

Chef Brock has created a line-up of gourmet sliders influenced by our very own dining menu based off our Short Rib, Jidori Chicken and Kurobuta Pork Carnitas dishes. He’s also debuting a Crab Slider for all you seafood lovers out there. Top off your slider with a selection of homemade pickled items made with Brock’s personal recipes. Each slider will be $3 and served with homemade potato chips

The Yamashiro Farmers' Market runs Thursday nights from 5-9 p.m. starting April 5, 2012. Pick up the free shuttle at the Christian Science Church on La Brea & Hollywood Blvd. Bring a jacket--it gets chilly up there!

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor. Our only loyalty is to our readers and listeners and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen Southern California’s communities.
