Topline:

Driving through the Sepulveda Pass could get even slower. Overnight closures along the 405 Freeway begin Monday as crews work on a pavement rehabilitation project.

What to expect? Overnight closures begin July 14 through July 18 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Up to two lanes on the northbound and southbound sides of the 405 Freeway between Wilshire Boulevard and Mulholland Drive/Skirball Center Drive will be closed, according to Caltrans.

The northbound side closure will last one more evening, ending on July 19.

Why now? The work is part of a $143 million Caltrans project to repave portions of the 405 Freeway between Van Nuys and Westwood.

How to get around this: Caltrans will place signage along the detour routes for drivers. Detour routes will also be posted on social media.

Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
