Metro Wants Your Input On Expanding Express Lanes On The 10 Freeway To The San Bernardino County Line

Metro and Caltrans wants input on a proposal to either expand the express lanes or widen the HOV lanes on the 10 Freeway corridor between the 605 Freeway and the L.A/San Bernardino county line.

The alternatives:

  • Leave as is
  • Convert the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane to an Express Lane
  • Add an additional Express Lane/HOT lane in each direction and convert the existing HOV lane to an Express Lane
  • Keep the existing HOV lane and add a second HOV lane in each direction

Why it's happening: According to report from Metro, the goal is to reduce traffic congestion along the corridor and reduce travel time for commuters.

What are people saying: Active SGV, a nonprofit that advocates for street safety in the San Gabriel Valley, opposes the project, arguing that freeway expansions worsen air quality, displaces communities and have proven to be ineffective in reducing traffic congestion.

How to participate: Metro is hosting several community input meetings both in person and virtual with the first one slated for today. Here's a list of where and how to attend:
