Expect Crowds, Chatty Cops, & Closed Streets for Langer's Anniversary Free Sandwich Spectacular

Before you
Dear reader, we're asking you to help us keep local news available for all. Your tax-deductible financial support keeps our stories free to read, instead of hidden behind paywalls. We believe when reliable local reporting is widely available, the entire community benefits. Thank you for investing in your neighborhood.

If you're heading to Langer's Deli Friday or Saturday to score yourself a free #19 hot pastrami on rye, be prepared for street closures, crowds, and chatty cops.

The Los Angeles Police Department will be supervising a full shutdown of 7th Street from Alvarado Street to Westlake Boulevard. Plus the cops will be hanging around to chat with everyone--a captive audience!--about all sorts of things. Lucky you! Here's a shortlist of talking points: Crime prevention, how to become an LAPD officer, what to do when you call 911, the youth Cadet program, and what LAPD communications does.

And you thought your free sandwich didn't come with any sides!

As a bonus incentive, if you ride the Metro to Langer's (it's a hop skip and a jump from the Westlake/MacArthur Park Red Line stop), all seated customers who arrive at Langer’s using Metro rail or bus passes will be eligible to enter drawings for a $100 Langer’s gift certificate. A drawing will be held hourly, starting Saturday at 9 a.m.
