Late Colombian Drug Baron's Hippo Gunned Down

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. Colombia's government says it will stop trying to kill a hippopotamus. One of two hippopotami - imported from Africa years ago for the private zoo of drug lord Pablo Escobar. Like their late one-time owner, they had a talent for escaping from custody. They got away in 2006 and lived in the wild. Concerned about public safety authorities hunted one down. Angry animal rights groups persuaded officials to let the other survive.
