Herb Alpert Donates $30 Million for School of Music

He won't be the owner, but he will have his name on the UCLA School of Music.
Trumpeter Herb Alpert, who headed up The Tijuana Brass, and as cofounder - was the A in A&M Records - has donated $30 million. And today, UCLA announced the debut of a UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.

ROBERT SIEGEL, Host:
As a musician and a producer, Herb Alpert has had five number one records, won eight Grammies and had dozens of big albums. His gift will bring together UCLA's various music departments into what the university says will be a new school devoted to the performance and study of music in all of its global diversity. We are not sure if that includes Alpert's own patented mariachi sound.
